2021 GRAMMYs Nominees Announcement sparks backlash from Artists and Fans

Following the announcement of the 2021 GRAMMYs Nominees List, a number of artists and fans have expressed their dissatisfaction.

Justin Bieber was nominated for four awards, including ‘Best Pop Vocal Album‘ for his latest record Changes. He took to his Instagram to explain how he was not best pleased over this decision however, claiming that the album is R&B, not Pop.

Teyana Taylor was also displeased regarding the ‘Best R&B Album‘ category, noting how female talent had been excluded from the nominations list. Her own record The Album was released in June of this year but received no nominations.

The Weeknd did not receive any nominations, in spite of his number one album After Hours and hit single ‘Blinding Lights‘. He has since taken to Twitter to label the GRAMMYs “corrupt”.

Fans were also confused as to why KAYTRANADA has been nominated for ‘Best New Arist‘, considering his talent and artistry has been widely appreciated for years.

Many Twitter users took to the platform to express their own opinions on who has been snubbed by the GRAMMYs.
