Bobby rose to fame in 2014 with his track ‘Hot N*gga’. The track’s popularity was amplified by his “shmoney dance” performed in the video, which became a meme and was widely imitated across video app Vine¬†at the time.

Bobby was subsequently signed to Epic Records, and had his debut studio album set for release in 2016.

In August 2020, Bobby was denied parole. Following this, Bobby was set to serve his full sentence and be released in December 2021. However, following review, his good behaviour qualified Bobby for conditional release on February 23, 2021, given the rest of his sentence is to be served on parole.
