Latest figures have shown that Bolton officially has the highest rate of COVID cases in the UK.
Weekly rates have increased by 127% in the past week, meaning around 0.2% of the population has the disease.
The sudden rise in cases in the town is thought to be driven by the the “Indian variant” of the virus.
Rochdale, Manchester, Stockport, Tameside and Wigan have also seen an increase in cases.
The news comes as Boris Johnson recently announced how he’s ‘anxious’ about the “Indian variant”. He stated the Government will “rule nothing out” to prevent its spread.
