Stockport Junior Footballer Khia Whitehead Moved Out Of Critical Care

Stockport local Khia Whitehead’s condition has improved, following a life-threatening accident in December.

16 year old Khia Whitehead was involved in an accident on Boxing Day 2020, whereby he was hit by a police car in Stockport.

When first brought into hospital and put on life support, his family was told that he had a 4% chance of survival.

After eight critical surgeries over the past few months, he is now breathing on his own has finally been moved out of critical care and into the rehabilitation ward. He is still unable to move or communicate, however he has been able to swallow food, which is definitely a positive step in the right direction.

Sadly Khia’s parents have been told by medical staff that it is unlikely that he will be able to walk again.

Khia’s family are seeking to generate funds to put towards his therapy and rehabilitation, to give him the best possible chance of recovery.

So far their Just Giving page has amassed an impressive £19,000. If you are able to donate, please do so here.

Being an avid junior footballer for Spurley Hey, Khia was left multiple video messages by many famous footballing faces, wishing him well. These included Sir Alex Ferguson, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.

We wish Khia the best in his rehabilitation and recovery.
