Open Beat is a platform curated to enable unsigned artists in Manchester to showcase their talent.
As the music industry in the city reaches an all time high, Open Beat aim to aid musicians of all genres to reach potential record deals.
Founder Tom and co-founder Mif, created Open Beat last year, with an event lined up just as Covid-19 forced the UK into a national lockdown.
The team has now expanded, with Joe, who has had an influence on entertainment around Manchester for the past 20+ years, and Jermaine, who has been involved with the formation of Parklife festival and the WHP.
Pie Radio spoke to Mif about Open Beat, he said: “There is a lot of music talent in Manchester and around the country, but what we always seemed to find was that the talents would either just pass by or never be heard of. We saw that market and felt it would be great to provide that platform, for them to showcase their music.”
The platform aims to bridge the gap between artists and record labels, providing the undervalued talent with a voice and stage to success.
Artists can get involved by tagging Open Beat in posts and stories on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter by using the hashtag #OpenBeat.
Mif said, “We’re always on the lookout for new music and artists, artists can tag us in their music and posts on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter or use the hashtag #OpenBeat and we’ll find the music. They can get in touch with us with a DM on either platform and we’ll be sure to get in touch with them that way.”
Open Beat have recently hosted ‘Frequencies’ in collaboration with The Manc Audio. The event featured artists such as Prima, Minerva Daisy and RJ.
The future for Open Beat ultimately, is to share the talent and continue growing an audience for these artists.
