Juice WRLD and Lil Uzi Vert finally link up for the remix of Lucid Dreams, 3 years in the making
In 2018, Juice WRLD previewed a remix of his smash hit ‘Lucid Dreams’, where Lil Uzi Vert can be heard displaying an expressive, emotional verse before emerging back into the famous hook with Juice.
After scandals arose online recently about the full song being leaked, a group of people responsible for the leaks in fact sold the leak for $12,000.
Long story short – the people who paid for this leak were rough on judgement to say the least, as the song was released as part of ‘Goodbye and Good Riddance: Anniversary Edition’, with another song ‘734’, as well as a noticeable reshuffle in the track list.
Although ‘734’ was brand new Juice that die-hard fans had craved, the song that sent people into hysterics was the Lucid Dreams remix, featuring Juice’s frequent collaborator, Lil Uzi Vert.
To say the song was given a face lift (instead of a straight up remix) would be a more accurate statement, as the song is unchanged from the original hit in 2018. That is up until the back end of the song.
Where fans expect to dive back into the ever-so famous hook after Juice’s compelling statements of heartbreak, instead we are surprised with a new verse from Uzi, who delivers a singing style that we have not seen from him that much recently. It is a much more vulnerable Lil Uzi than we have seen on Eternal Atake and Pluto X Baby Pluto, and the personal story he tells fits into the narrative with the original song. He also throws in some witty one liners that pay respect to the late legend.
The remix has been received well for the most part, although some are dissatisfied with the amount of autotune on Lil Uzi Vert’s voice, stating the contrast does not help the mood of the song. Most are ecstatic however to finally see this version of the song release, as it has been teased for the best part of 3 years. It serves as great fan service for the die hard Juice x Uzi Fans.
