Mustafa, Canadian poet, singer and songwriter has paid a heart-rending tribute to his late friend in his new released song, ‘Ali’.

The track is a beautifully saddening and soulful farewell, in which Mustafa reflects on the day his beloved friend departed from this world.

Mustafa manifests the painful emotions of loss and grief through his poetic verses within the song, and has attempted to “beautify the departures” of those who have lost their loved ones due to gun violence. The song possesses a melancholy guitar driven melody, which is uplifted by Mustafa’s unique and sensitive voice.

The new released and self-directed music video has breathed life into the poet’s musical homage through capturing Mustafa alongside friends as they begin to disappear throughout the song.

In the visuals, we see Mustafa aimlessly walking alone in the city at night, surrounded by tall buildings and lights; disheartened and restless. The video draws to an end with a beautiful sentiment as a crowd of young individuals gather and light candles in honour of Ali.
