Dean West, commonly known as Black The Ripper, was a grime MC and cannabis activist. The rapper was staying in Montserrat last year when he suddenly passed away at just 32 years old following a heart attack.

Chip and Black The Ripper were close friends who also featured on multiple tracks together. The pair featured on Nafe Smallz’s Smokin Remix and also collaborated with Popcaan, Shorty and Frisco for Weed Is My Bestfriend. Following West’s death last year, Chip released 0420 in his memory.

In Chip’s IGTV post he said: “Happy 0420 everyone… this day will never be the same for me without my brudda here in the flesh but he still here in spirit. R.I.P Black The Ripper 4L”

Chip released the freestyle on 420, a day that celebrates marijuana and attempts to get it legalised worldwide. In the heartfelt freestyle, Chip raps “Every time I bill it I see Black The Ripper”.

In the IGTV we see a more emotional side to the artist’s bars, as he effortlessly raps over Drake’s Lemon Pepper Freestyle beat.
